Adult Learn to Swim

We hope to bring back the Adult Learn to Swim program in the future. Please email us at President@BozemanMasters.org if interested. Check back later for updates.

Goal of these Lessons

Help reduce the overall drowning rate in America one adult swimmer at a time.

According to the CDC, 1 in every 3 adults is at risk of drowning because they cannot swim the length of a pool well enough to save their lives. Taking swim lessons isn’t just for kids. Adults who know how to swim can have a lot of benefits. An increase of activities to do with the family, peace of mind, and fitness benefits are just a few positives of being able to swim well enough to save your own life in case of an emergency.

Our lessons are on a first come basis and class size is limited to a 1:3 instructor to student ratio. If you have questions, comments, or concerns beyond the information available on our website, please feel free to send an e-mail to LearnToSwim@BozemanMasters.org.

The Bozeman Masters team was able to offer FREE Adult Swim Lessons in 2017 through funding from the Swimming Saves Lives Foundation at US Masters Swimming. In our five sessions of swim lessons, eight members of the Bozeman Masters Swim Team were able to help 40 adults in Bozeman learn to swim. Swimming is a life-saving skill that should not only be accessible to those with money.

The 2018 lessons were also a success. We helped 49 adults learn life saving skills of swimming. Forty percent of our participants did not think they could float, let alone swim enough to save their own lives. Evaluations completed by the swimmers on their last day of class showed a 5 out of 5 satisfaction with their lessons and quality of instructors. Below are a couple comments

“Great Program! Thanks to all involved in making it happen. I hope you are able to offer it again!”

“I am very grateful to you & to Bozeman’s Masters. You are doing a great service.”

“Being with others who didn’t learn to swim as kids created camaraderie & healthy fun ‘competition.’ The joy of our swimming came out – not the fear & difficulty.”

“My confidence in water has soared thanks to good teachers of this class!”
