Coaches

Our volunteer coaches are at least Level 1 USMS Coaching certified, and rotate days throughout the month. To meet our group of coaches, read their bios below!

Matt Yovich

Matt has been in and around competitive swimming for most of his life.  We call him our swim engineer. He will analyze your stroke, apply science and get your swimming more efficiently with less effort. Matt is a former competitive swimmer, a proud swim parent, a board member/officer, a nationally certified official, a fantastic coach and a really lovely human being.

Matt wants swimming to be a lifetime activity for our athletes and desires for all to learn swimming as a survival skill.  He knows that the competitive swimming community is different than most sports – more collegial, collaborative and familial – and results in life-long friendships.  He gets excited by seeing swimmers attain small successes, at any level of swimming, and the confidence and self-worth that results over time.  Those successes are the result of excellent and efficient technique and hard work.

Hans Dersch

Hans Dersch is an Olympic gold medalist (1992 Barcelona) and part of the Bozeman Masters swim family. Hans coaches twice a month, or as his retirement schedule allows. He attended the University of Texas and was a member of three Longhorn NCAA National Championship teams. He finished second in both the 100y and 200y breaststroke events all three years the Longhorns took the Title. He was also the coach for the age group swim team, the Bozeman Baracudas.  In 2016, he was inducted into the Georgia Aquatics Hall of Fame.
