It’s time for our end-of-summer potluck/party! We have twisted the arm of Julie Raaf, Bozeman Masters’ unofficial social director, and she has agreed to host again this year.
All current, past and future members are invited to attend. Just bring a dish and beverages to share. If you know someone who has been thinking of joining our club, please invite them to come along with you.
No entertainment is planned at this time, but the Raafs do have some interesting farm animals and a swimming hole, if you’re so inclined. The best part about this annual event is the opportunity to get to know new and old members of our extended swimming family. The trick is recognizing people with their clothes on.
After the food, drink and friendly conversation, we’ll take a few minutes to conduct an annual meeting of our members, as required by our bylaws. This is “for the purpose of electing directors, receiving a report on the activities and financial condition of the corporation, and for the transaction of other business as shall come before the meeting.” We promise to keep this part brief. Everyone is welcome to attend the annual meeting, but only members will have a vote. A member, for this purpose, is someone who is a member of USMS *and* has a current, paid-up membership plan with our club. Punch card purchasers do not count. We do need 1/3 of our members to attend the annual meeting for us to be able to conduct business, so please stick around for this. Sam Frederick and Maggie Burns are both up for re-election to the board.
NOTE: Julie’s house is in-between Belgrade and Amsterdam (about a 25-minute drive from the Bozeman Swim Center). Carpooling is encouraged.
